I have an 88 Ramcharger w/318 auto tranny. I recently changed the tranny filter and half the fluid, as I couldn't drain the convertor. I drove it to the store for a quick errand and when I tried to put it in reverse it died. I could not get it to go in reverse for the life of me. So, I jumped the curb. Made it home, (about 5 miles). Got out to open the gate. When I tried to put it in drive it died. Had to really throttle the gas to keep it from dieing. Anyway, a week later I cleared out my shop so that I could get the truck in there to drop the tranny. (Figured that was my problem "bad tranny".) Started it, put it in reverse and got it turned around so as to back it into the shop. Went into gear fine. Is there something I am missing? If anyone has any ideas or suggestions they would greatly be appreciated. Can't really afford to replace it right now.

did it do it before the fluid change? the dieing part.

the shift unit sticks my 87 ram charger does it all the time i have to shut it down count to ten then start it a gain and it will work fine.
