two questionspoorfordman 07-19-2008, 01:43 AM I have a 91 escort 1.9 first is there a throttle body upgrade for this car that i can pull off another engine . and second how do you get the headlight assembly out. thank you in advance Davescort97 07-20-2008, 04:09 AM Welcome to Automotive Forums. A TB from a 3.8 will fit on your 1.9. You've got to move the throttle cable to the other side and rewire the throttle position sensor the sensor for the 3.8 moves in opposite direction so you want to use the TPS from your 1.9. A cold air intake will get you more HP. A larger TB will actually cost you some HP at low rpms. Maybe get 3 HP at Revs. To get the headlight out you must first take the side screw and the upper screw out of the side corner light, remove it and then take the grill out. Squeeze the prongs of the retainer at the top center of the grill and separate it from the body. Unlatch the grill retainers. Lift the grill out. Remove the inner, outer and upper bolt of the HL assembly and remove it. Had a halogen bulb blow up in my HL assembly. $140 at the dealer. On my 97 I had to take the whole front bumper cover off to put new headlight assemblies in. Quite a bit easier on the 91. denisond3 07-20-2008, 06:44 AM The first time you go to take that center grille piece out it may take a while. Much easier to do the 2nd time though. I think I had to undo the turn signal housing (one phillips screw) and pull it out sideways, in order to reach the final 10mm bolt holding the headlamp housing in. While the headlamp housing is out, its a good time to lube the adjuster mechanisms and make sure they will turn. I replaced my original headlamps with new ones after about 8 years.
