Prob. with removing Transaxel from engine!!

I've removed every bolt needed to separate the transaxel from the engine to get at the clutch in order to replace it, only problem is that it's still connected at the top of the assembly... reading the service manual it says that I need to disassemble the selective bell joint from the motor... I'm thinking that either 1) I'm not reaming hard enough on the transmission to separate it or 2) this selective bell joint and associated bolts are preventing me from doing so...

by the way its a 1996 Toyota tercel... I've been working at night for ten hours to come home in the morning to watch kids for several hours then for the rest of the day grease monkey it up till I have to return to work... I love my car and not being able to figure this out is killing me literally (no sleep!!!)...
please help me out AF, your my only hope... I really don't want to wait till Monday to call my fav. mechanic to figure this out...

thanks for your time,
brendan (Tercel enthusiast)

Update 7/21/08

I've called more than several mechanics and the ones that will give me info over the phone have said that there is either a bolt still attached at the top or that I have to apply a massive amount of pressure to pull it apart...
Do I reem the engine regardless of if it breaks the bell housing or
do I attempt to remove the engine tubes/etc above the bell/engine seam to get at a possible hold up?

thanks

Re: Prob. with removing Transaxel from engine!!

I'm not intimiately familiar with your setup, but looking around, there may be bolts that attach the selecting bellcrank bracket to the transaxle. Also, this is a pic of the bolt attachment points I could find:

There may be some hidden on the top that you haven't uncovered yet. Of course, this all may be too late anyways, but good luck!
