3100 Upper plenum doent sit flat on lower

Hi I am new but could use some help I just did a head gasket job on a 2001 malibu with a 3.1 and for some reason the upper intake plenum does not sit flat on the lower intake it is far enough off the when I tried to tourqe it down it broke the upper plenum. Has anyone out there ever herd of anything like this?

If the car was working before it must have been flat therefore something has changed during your R & R. Have you torque all the intake bolts down? Did you accidently leave a bolt on the intake? Did you properly route the MAP sensor in the back of the plenum? A gasket goes between the intake and the plenum therefore you must have zero gaps to seal. Look around the area that is high and you'll find your problem.
