I am replacing the head gasket on a 93 pickup. The number 8 head bolt is frozen solid. Have tried up to a 3/4" drive socket with a cheater pipe to no avail. Will an impact driver (that you hit with a hammer) be worth a shot or does anyone else have any ideas please? I dont want to break the bolt off or ruin the head but need to get out asap.

If it breaks buy a junk yard bolt and clean all of them with a power wire brush.
Usually they break where you can remove with channel locks. With the tension removed they normally aren't rusted in. If a torque to yield bolt I would suggest new bolts.
I would try an air impact if a friend will lend you his and you can plug in a compressor at your house.
I would try a breaker bar and use a heavy plastic mallet and hit the end. Use some P-B blaster and loosen any rust under the bolt. If you can't get it out after breaking take it to a machine shop.
You can also try short heavy pulls it normally takes a few seconds before they break. Use a hammer and an old thick bolt and hit it with a hammer to try and loosen it enough to start.
I have one of the hammer impacts I bought used but always use air impacts.

A lot of times a little heat from a propane torch will help loosen it up.

Those will be torque to spec and then stretched the rest of the way. You will need to replace with new when reinstalling. The air impacts are only going to help you if you are using good impact, good pressure and ½ or ¾ inch drive.
Using a breaker bar, try tightening the bolt to free up the threads then back to loosening it and repeat this process, once the shoulder of the bolt head is off the head deck get some WD40 or other cutting oil down the bolt to lubricate the threads.
The threads in the block at this point are compromised and will not allow for a proper torquing of the bolt when replaced until they are cleaned out.
