Just had a question.I have a 2000 grand am gt 3400 series motor and was wondering if theres a better motor to fit without making to many modifications if so what type and how expensive would it be to swap a 71 455 pontiac motor in?

455 motor? :eek: That could be wishful thinking. I seriously doubt it will fit in the engine compartment and that engine was for rear wheel drive. If you have the time and money a more realistic swap would be to a L67 Supercharged Series II 3800 motor, however, extensive modifications are required but the swap has been successful in a GA GT. See pics below.

The other option would be to modify your engine. Plenty of mods are available for it.

Now that might be some fun, but no way it would even fit.
Thier is a GA w/ an LS motor thats RWD, seen some videos on the web, probly a realy fun car to drive.

For the 3.8 swap is a lot of work. Getting the drivetrain bolted in is the easy part, it's piggy backin the 3.8 PCM to the 3.4 PCM/BCM that's the real problem trouble. :uhoh: and the wiring nightmare. :eek7:

Did you see MMS has a 6 speed manual transmission swap available for testing ??

That would be something I'd like to have. :grinyes:

Not 100% sure but I think that conversion uses the same 6 speed manual that was optional for the '06/'07 G6 GT.

That's what I figured they were from the 3.5/3.9 out of the G6.
At least someone else is working the bugs out for us. :D
