transmission swapping madness!captaincheez 06-16-2008, 09:39 PM As i hate driving automatic vehicles, I'm researching the feasibility of putting a manual transmission in my jimmy(96 vin w). finding the parts is easy enough, but I've run into a few compatibility questions which would need to be answered before I start butchering my truck: -Would the NV3500 transmission bolt right on to the NP 233 transfer case I got on there now? -Transmission mounts/crossmember: similar locations or completely different? -Whats the NV3500 got for electronics? I'm guessing none but I have no clue. I'm assuming I'd need a replacement computer, can I use the one in the parts s10 i'll be using or would I need it flashed by the dealer? I've got plenty of time, as I've got nothing to do all summer. I also realize I'm completely insane. But I love my truck and would hate to let it go. But driving automatic hurts me on a deep emotional level. So if this is moderately difficult ill do it. Any help/suggestions? MT-2500 06-20-2008, 10:21 AM As i hate driving automatic vehicles, I'm researching the feasibility of putting a manual transmission in my jimmy(96 vin w). finding the parts is easy enough, but I've run into a few compatibility questions which would need to be answered before I start butchering my truck: -Would the NV3500 transmission bolt right on to the NP 233 transfer case I got on there now? -Transmission mounts/crossmember: similar locations or completely different? -Whats the NV3500 got for electronics?
