I would have to saw that it is the fuel pump. My buddy just had the exact same problem and thats what it was.. So I would chect that out. If thats not it.. You have some water in your lines (fuel lines)

Hope that helps

Hey,

I thought you might like to know I had this prob with my cav. I just changed out the air and fuel filter as well as the spark plugs and problem was gone. If your starting to get close to 40k clicks then a tune-up may be in order. It'll keep your baby running smooth anyways.

Also the problem could be as easy as a vacuum leak. Get a friend to sit in the car and keep it running.. Pop the hood and see if you can hear any major air leaks. If you cant then I would get some hose and put on end to your ear and the other on different parts of the engine and try to hear for a Hisssssing sound. One last trick is to make some soapy water (use dish soap) and poor some on the top of the engine.. If bubble form then thats were the leak and the problem is..

hope that helps..

Re: 98 cavalier keeps stalling

here is a list of possible problems
the most common is pcv valve or clogged fuel filter

rarly it will be a bad fuel pump because when they go bad they usally wont even pump a drop of fuel

pcv valve : is around 3 bucks
fuel filter is around : 10 and is located under your back seats under your car

start your car and give it some gas if it dosent die wall giving it gas iam about possitive its your pcv valve or fuel filter. rarly it can also be clogged fuel injectors
