question
Just bought a 95 Z28, nice to have the F-body back home!! Car runs strong Auto and the tranny seems strong. When I take slow turns (like at a cul-de-sac I get a strange rub (not clunking) in the rear, happens both ways. Feels like rubber (maybe suspension?) tires are brand new. Any thoughts? Its only 3 days old and I will be taking it to my mechanic in a week or so as I have a 3 month warranty on it.

Re: question
Does it have stock rims? Or does it have an aftermarket set?

Re: question
Check to make sure there is sufficient clearance between the wheels and the wheel wells. Also, this may sound stupid, but make sure all the lug nuts are nice and tight on the wheels. I had 3 fall off on me somehow and wound up riding around on a wheel that was only secured with 2 lug nits. Every time I took a slow turn, like you described, it made a rubbing sound. Was the wheel wobbling back and forth on the studs. I couldn't figure out what it was until a friend pointed it out. Was the last thing I would have thought of checking. Like I said, sounds stupid, but it's worth checking out if you already haven't.

 WTF?
I had the clutch discs come apart inside my limited slip that intermittently caused the differential to lock the axles together while cornering. Like trying to drive with a "spool" instead of a diff.
If its the tires that are making the noise.....

Re: question
I had a 2002 SS 35th anniversary convertible, and it did the same, now yes the rims are bigger and bigger tires, but it did it cause someone put on shocks that werent strong enough to bear the load of any turn. So check your shocks, make sure they are giving you enough clearance to turn with the weight shift!
