f-550 need a second tank, what fits?

I have a 90 f-550 with the gas 460. It came stock with dual tanks. When I got it the rear tank had been removed. I know that it had one because it has the tank selector switch on the dash and all the fuel lines and hook-ups at the rear of the frame. These trucks are hard to find in the junk yard so I was wondering if there are any other years/models that are interchangable? At 7-8 MPG the front 18 gallon tank just doesn't cut it! any help would be appreceated.

I don't know the answer to your question. I just wanted to give you a friendly reminder to refi your home and use the equity to fill tank#2.

Tell me about it! with the 460 and the vehicle weighing in at 15,000 lbs, it ain't cheap to drive! I don't know where you live, but here in northern cali regular is at $4.50/gal and going up everyday!

I burn about $2,000 of diesel a week at my trucking job. Regular here in north florida is about $3.99 a gallon. Diesel is $4.69. Craziness. Any luck finding that fuel tank?

Re: f-550 need a second tank, what fits?

Just today I went to a new yard in my town and was looking around and bam! there was a 90 super duty with the rear tank intact, even better the bed is removed so it'll be easy to get out. now I just gotta find some time to pull it. Too bad I didn't find this truck a few months ago when the rearend went out in mine, to get the stock one rebuilt cost 1700 bucks, ouch!
