Dome Light bulb replacement

Hi all,
I recently purchased a 97 Blazer LT. It has a dome light assembly that's quite a bit different from others I've seen or from what the owner's manual shows. I have the console up top, between the sunroof and review mirror. This console has the switch for the sunroof, 3 buttons to control auxilary things such as a garage door opener, the digital read out that shows direction of travel, outside temp, est. mpg, instant mpg, etc...and has 2 dome lights. These lights are turned on and off by pushing up on the lens. Problem is, I can't figure out how to change out these bulbs. I was able to pry off the lenses WITHOUT breaking them, luckily. However, it still doesn't really give me enough access to change the bulb. There's a single screw towards the front of this entire console that I've removed. It seems that there's some kind of clips still holding the back of the console in place. I really don't want to risk breaking these clips so need some advice on how to get this console cover off. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions you can offer!!

Re: Dome Light bulb replacement

Try pushing up on the lens like your gonna turn it and and try to rotate it, i have a 95 with the console up top, sounds slightly different than yours, but thats how mine come out, push up 1/4 turn and it falls right out

Re: Dome Light bulb replacement

Thanks for the suggestion. Mine is held on by two ears that fit on tiny plastic pins inside. Don't think I could push and turn without breaking off the ears or pins. Took it to a dealership today and had a service tech take a look at it. He told me that the bulbs aren't servicable. He explained that it was one of GMs stupid ideas and that the whole console has to be replaced in order to replace the bulbs. There's gotta be another way...lol.
