01 Cherokee front brakes not releasing

After discovering some very hot brakes and rotors, I jacked up the Jeep and found the front wheels partially held by the brakes. I could still turn them, but could hear the calipers sliding on the rotors. They don't seem to be releasing all of the way. Both are equally engaged and not releasing. How do I get them released?

thanks for any input.

sounds like the calipers are binding. I would replace them.
You can use a 6 inch "C" clamp to release them. Put one end on the back of the caliper and the other against the outside brake pad and turn the handle. this will press the caliper piston in, making more room for the caliper.

Time for a thorough brake job.

Thanks for the input. If it is just the calipers, why would it be both at the very same time? It seems that one piston would stick if it were simply a stuck piston, or corroded guide bolts or something local. What about the master cylinder, or collapsed lines? Those are some ideas I'm hearing.
The '82 Honda scooter just doesn't haul the firewood like the Jeep. Maybe time to go through the whole system, indeed.

If both calipers stick in the same way, it's probably not the calipers. Probably the master cylinder is bad.
