i was driving one day and the car just died on my it acted like it was out of gas. i put gas in it and checked the fuel pump and it wont start. it is turning over trying to start but it wont. any ideas?

Start checking the basics:

Are the spark plugs firing?
Any connectors dangling?
Distributor working?
Fuel being injected?
Etc and so on.
