97 Jeep Cherokee Sport squeeks when braking or turning??

Hey
I dont know anything bout vehicle maintenance but I hate to take my Jeep to the garage and have them take advantage of a dumb woman ...lol.
Lately it seems that anytime I press the brakes or turn my vehicle my Jeep squeeks and I fear its going to just collapse?? Does something need lubing up or replacing???? oh and I call my Jeep 'ol chirpy' cuz when I accelerate and i get past 20km it seems as if it starts to chirp , someone said its my spedometer but Im not thinking thats what it is.

help me not look silly
thx

Where is the chirp? Outside or inside the vehicle.
