06 Impala SS smoking & using oil - Is it the PCV Valve???

I have an 06 Impala SS (5.3 V-8) and it's using about 3 qts. of oil between changes (5,000 miles). I use Mobil-1 synthetic oil and change it before the computer shows it necessary to change. I have on occassion turned a corner and looked in the rear view mirror and seen a cloud of smoke come out of the car while making the turn. I was only going about 15 mph into the turn and 30 mph coming out of the turn (it wasn't tire smoke!!) . I've only noticed it doing this a couple of times, it normally never smokes any. Could it be the PCV valve on this engine and if so where is it located? There are no signs of drips or leaks on or under the car. I appreciate any ideas you might have.

Not sure abiout the pcv location but this could be internal also, maybe the owner's manual, also if under 3/36 let the dealer in on this.
