97 Astro Van Radiator Replacement

Hi Guys,

Need to replace the radiator in my 97 Astro Van because of holes that leaked when towing. Waiting for new radiator to be shipped.

Any advice on how to do the work as I am confused by Haynes manual. It says that "transmission cooler lines are quick-connect type secured with spring clip that cannot be reused...". "Begin assebmly by installing the new spring clips..."

Will the new radiator come with these clips or I have to order them separetly.

Re: 97 Astro Van Radiator Replacement

I've re-used them- and I've bought them- $5 apiece from GM---they are like the clips behind a hand crank window knob-- so what can go wrong with the clip? as long as you don't totally destroy it removing it- and it is still in the original shape- I re-use them...hint: use a dental pick to remove it.....works every time- there is probably a special tool- but my trusty pick has always worked...

The only reason I bought them was for when one went flying upon removal- and you don't take the time to find it somewhere in your garage.....I keep a couple of spares now.......
