Oil plug came out!!!!

While driving down the freeway my truck engine died. I did not know it but my oil pan plug came out. When it died I pulled to the side never starting the truck. There was at least 3 quarts of oil under the truck where it came to a stop. I towed it home and later put a new plug and added oil. But the engine will not turn over. Is there something other than a blown engine that I can try before scraping the truck. I had just put a new used engine for 2000.00 just 3 1/2 months prior to this and I would like to make some of my money back if possible. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!!!

Could you add year, engine, and model of your truck.
Knowing more information will help us give you a better answer.

Did you notice the engine temp light/gauge getting to the hot side before you pulled over?

Have you tried turning the engine over manually by putting a ratchet or breaker bar on the crank pulley? if you try this and it won't turn smoothly then it's probably seized or scored up. Did you notice if it had oil pressure before it died?

Didn't you have any indication at all that you were running the vehicle with no oil? Did your oil gauge show zero pressure at the time? I'm afraid that you were still running your engine long after your pan was empty of oil and the crankshaft bearings finally seized.

The rod and main bearings have probably welded themselves to your crankshaft by way of friction. If that's what's happened, then your crankshaft is history.
