Engine cut off all the sudden, Why?

I have a 200 f150 XLT lariat and it has 105,000 miles on it. It has never given me any trouble and I have put every mile on it. This morning I was going down the road and the engine just cut off. It cranked right back up but it did it again about 10 minutes later. COuld this be a fuel filter proble,. The lights and radio never went off, the engine just stopped.

Re: Engine cut off all the sudden, Why?

Is you CEL (check engine light) on?

There may also be DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) in you trucks computer, even if the CEL is not lit.

It would be a good idea to get the codes read with an OBDII code scanner.
And post the codes to get some idea what the problem will be.

If your fuel filter has not been changed in a while, go and change it anyway.
You still need to look for DTCs to see if you have other areas to look at.
At this point it could be many things.

Bad ECM
ignition system
MAF sensor
O2 sensors
EGR valve/system
Charging system
Fuel pump/relay

Autozone does OBDII scans, or you can get a scanner for 50 - 300 dollars.

Keep us posted.
