94 beretta radiator/fan R&R

need to replace the radiator on a 94 Beretta 3.1L
I have removed the bolt holding the fan in and don't have enough room to remove it. the back of the fan hits the exhaust manifold and I need about 1/2 to 3/4 inch more.
Figure I'm not thr first with this problem. I went the manual and it's no help it has a generic unbolt, unplug and remove directions. so I went to the junk yard and tried to remove one there and had same problem so I figure I better ask and see if there is an easy way of doing this.
With the engine so close I may need to remove the mounts and shift the engine but would rather not if there is an easier way.
I thought that the fan maght break down but can't see how to disassemble while in position.
