i have been building up a 5.7L for my 84 v6 camaro for a long time ..im finally getting back to the project....i have new motor mounts but i can't get the old ones off...
i cant figure out how to get to the nuts on the front side of the mount on the left and right side mounts. It look to me like you have to take the control arms off, but that certainly cant be it. My manual says.."remove bolts, install new mount".
Hope you guys can help............

You'll need a fairly long open end wrench of the proper size and slide it in the cross member where the A arm mounts and then have someone turn the bolt. They are a royal pain but you don't have to remove the A arm.

i didnt think the a-arms had to go....at least i was hoping.
thanks i'll try it....time to hit up craftsman for a better 15mm wrench

after examining the car...........
the crossmember is way to boxed in to allow a wrench anywhere around the a arms....second: the mount is way to high up on the crossmember.. i looked at my 86 z28 and the crossmember isnt nearly as big and bulky as the one in this car....i could easily take the mounts off of the z28....how on earth is that possible?

I did the same thing last summer and I think we used a wrench that was bent... i know I had help getting the old ones off then the new ones on It was a little struggle at times...I think we even had to use swivel sockets with an extension I dont know if that helps but you definitely dont have to remove any other suspension components.
