Got to the dyno....Thoughts, input?

2004 GTO M6 39,1xx miles. Stock, 350FWHP.

TSP 233/239 .595/.603 112
Patriot Gold dual .650 springs kit
Hardened 7.400 pushrods
LS2 chain
6900 rpm redline
K&N in the box filter
and a tune.

326/312 at the rear wheels.

Obviously the exhaust is hurting these numbers quite a bit. Any thoughts? The first dyno pull netted 277/271 at the wheels after a base tune.

FOREWARN, I didn't go in expecting a ton of horsepower with a cam only. I know there are a thousand other things that assist the cam and the other way around. Basically, I'm just looking for thoughts or helpful input. Thanks.

And to those who say it's stupid to start with camming a car...well...I have a cammed GTO and you don't

Same motor and 6 knows everyone here. I think he knows this is an F-body forum, no need to be a smart ass.

Re: Got to the dyno....Thoughts, input?

My apologies for posting here. I've owned an F body for the last 5 years. It is an LS1, thought this forum would be more helpful and interested in the information than the GTO forum.

About the dyno.

I do not have stock dyno results for my GTO. Only after the base tune which was 277/271 (the first dyno pull after the cam). Then after the dyno tune we came up with 326/312.

Anyone considering this cam, we netted 49rwhp on the dyno from the base tune to get it to run decent for a few weeks until we could get to the dyno and the final tune with no other mods. Realistically, I saw a 55-60rwhp with the cam only.

Time for more mods

Since the LS engines seem to be more plentiful in the GTO & Y body you'd probably get better suggestions there (GTO forums), especially since the exhaust & induction tract may be playing a big part in your "disappointing" numbers. One of the better GTO forums whould probably be able to offer more useful advice.
You are truely loosing power somewhere, there were/are stock LS1 F bodies that dynoed in at 305 RWHP and in that neighborhood.

No, I wasn't trying to be an ass. His question went without a reply for a couple days so I thought everyone was ignoring it because it was the wrong forum.

If I'm going to be an ass it won't "seem" like it...you'll know for sure.

Re: Got to the dyno....Thoughts, input?

So when they say 305 stock are they meaning at the crank or at the wheels? I heard teh 04 GTO's had 350 stock but where is that at the wheels or the crank? Oh well, 6 full exhaust my man

Re: Got to the dyno....Thoughts, input?

The '04 GTO's ran LS1's right? If I'm not mistaken, those were putting down 350~ at the crank and about 300 - 320~ at the RW. Only reason I know is because I was looking at one and decided against it after seeing the pricetag.

Re: Got to the dyno....Thoughts, input?

You just need to get that engine to breath better to really take advantage of the cam.

Ported/Polished TB
LS6 intake (if it didnt come with one)
Full Exhaust
Better Cylinder Heads

Re: Got to the dyno....Thoughts, input?

Thanks for the replies and information.

I know where I'm heading and what I'm going to do to the car from this point. I'll keep you guys updated.

Stock LS1, that cam = 326/312 @ rear wheels.

Someone lock this thread please.
