Re: 76 pontiac 400 swap

MAYBE. Depends on when the '76 was built. Early production had some of the leftover '75 blocks.

If there are 5 mounting holes drilled and tapped on each side, it will fit fine. If there are only three, you'll need an adapter "kit". Those are available from either Performance Years or Ames Performance and relatively cheap (about $35). Not a big deal, but a little one... (:- everything else will fit. Use the exhaust manifolds from the '67.

You understand, the '76, if stock, won't TOUCH the '67, right? Do you still have the '67 engine? You would be better off rebuilding that. DO NOT throw or trade it away... If you want to part with it, PM me.

Re: 76 pontiac 400 swap

Cool. I guess I assumed (always dangerous...) it was a 400. 326 parts aren't in demand.

Be sure to get Jim Hand's book "How to Build Max-performance Pontiac V8s" published by SA Designs. Lots of good and CURRENT information regarding the ol' Injun. We've been making believers out of the local Chevy boys lately. Hard to find a Camaro that runs low 11s on pump gas without adders, that really can be driven on a daily basis. We have lots of Firebirds and GTOs out there doing it...
