2000 4 Runner ..battery OK wont start

I have a 2000 4 runner and suddenly one day it did not start. I had the battery replaced 2 months ago and now sometimes suddenly it wont start again. I can flicker the headlights so I guess the battery is OK. I opened the hood and the battery cables were tight. I then moved the cables on the battery and when I tried to start the car it worked. So where could be the issue ...Can the battery cables be bad or is it something else

Have your battery checked anyway. It is always the most likely cause of a starting problem. Being able to power your headlights is not a good test of battery function.

Check both ends of both cables and make sure they are tight and clean. If they feel tight to you, that doesn't mean they are making a good connection. Take a wrench and tighten them to make sure they are a solid connection with the terminals.

Check the cables for corrosion near the ends.

It can be your starter also. Toyota starters are known to have problems with the starter solenoid contacts. This is your last resort, however. The starter on the 4Runner is a pain to remove and replace.
