Who should I buy a reman 5.0 from?

Hello fellow Ford men and women,

I haven't been on for awhile, but I haven't forgotten where to go either.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction as to whom I should buy a remanufactured engine from for my 96 F-150. It's a 5.0 liter Eddie Bauer regular cab with 297,648 miles on it. I'm pretty sure I got my moneys worth anyway, but a new engine will resurrect an already great truck, and I'm not givin' up on her.

I was looking at a Jasper, but they seem a little steep as compared to some of the few others I've found. I know you get what you pay for, but I just wanna do some more comparing.

Thanks in advance!

From Jasper, they use high quality parts,Clevite bearings,Fel Pro gaskets and more quality parts companies.Youy can get one from Ford, the lifters take a long time to quiet down. The reman 5.0 and 5.8 from jasper, the lifters quiet down right away. The jasper rep I know heard this from a Ford dealership that uses Jasper reman engines for an option since my father is a Jasper dealer.Stay away from reman engines from auto parts stores like AutoZone and Advanced.Problem with their remans are they use the cheapest parts, pistons made in China, bearings made in Israel and more. The warranty sucks too,you have to take it to one of thier places to get warranty work done.Jasper has the best warranty, you can take it to any Jasper dealer for warranty work if there are any problems.Make sure you get the #8 plugwire in the right spot.if it is crossed,it will eat up the #8 piston. This is a very common problem with the 5.0L.

Thanks,

Like I said before, I pretty much already knew the answer. I just didn't know if there was anyone else out there that compared to Jasper.

Was looking at Rhino, but they don't go into much detail on their website.

I think I'll stick with the best.

Re: Who should I buy a reman 5.0 from?

Ordered from Jasper yesterday. Went ahead and sprung for the install kit.
Gonna pick it up friday from the warehouse here in KC.

Already started prepping for engine removal. Most everything is disconnected and marked, except the wiring harness, exhaust manifolds, and fuel line.

Gonna remover radiator, core support, and grill, so I don't have to raise the engine and tranny as high in the air to remove them.

I plan on having the new engine installed by Saturday evening and complete on Sunday afternoon.

Wish me luck and a smooth swap!

What's the price range on a jasper engine at this time. They used to be a $1000.00 higher than the company I was using.
