Wheel bear front hub help!

I can't remember if this is correct.

If bearing is roaring and you turn left and goes quiet it's right bearing. If you turn right it's left bearing. The noise lessens because you decrease the load on the bearing that is opposite of the turn.

More load on bearing turning right on right bear. More load on left bearing turning left.

thanks for the help.

I never could get that to work out right.

Newer type wheel bearings all have a left and right side.
Best to jack it up and check for loosness and wheel bearing noise spinning the wheels.

Going down the road and a slight turn of steering wheel to left or right the noise changes then you have a wheel bearing noise.

What year are you working on?
2 or 4W?

Re: Wheel bear front hub help!

Working on a 4wd 2002 Blazer LS. Never had any luck with free spinning the bearing. Bearing usually won't make any noise when in a no load situation.

Re: Wheel bear front hub help!

I always get all wheels up in the air and take a listening devise and listen at each wheel.
You usually can hear or feel a bad bearing.
Also any loosness in it is a good indication of a bad bearing.
Good luck

Fixed yesterday Turn right no squeal turn left squeal it was the right side bearing.

Like I said when there is no load on bearing ran quite and felt smooth.

Pulled the right as suggested in other posts.

Sure enough the right side was bad.

Thanks for all the help.

Nope ran smooth with no load on it.

FYI I figuired out why turn right no squeal. When you turn right the car leans left unloading right bearing therefore no noise. Turn left no squeal car leans to right unloads left bearing.

Prett cool huh?
