p0442

my buddies car sometimes gives us this code. I believe it is a evap system small leak .Has anyone had this problem? thanks in advance

Which year, model Grand Prix and engine? Link below has helpful info but the P0442 DTC may require proper test equipment to find the small leak.

well it a 98 grand am i thought it was a grand prix. it has a 4cyl thats all he could tell me

That can be a hard one to find, even with all the know-how and diagnostic tools. All you can really do without diagnostic equipment is look for cracking hoses and check the ring on the gas cap, if it's cracked at all it can cause a leak.
