1994 firebird oh man

Hey I bought a 94 firebird under the impression that the head gasket was blown so i replaced that and it ran fine for like a week. so i park at a walmart and the things blowin smoke out the passenger side and leakin antifreeze. I checked my oil and its chocolate milk. i assumed its either a cracked head again or a cracked block. worse case i have to buy a new engine any suggestions on whats a cheap engine thats not to hard to drop in there (i have the stock 3.4 liter v6) ive had the car for a year and drove it for a week. help a brother out thanks

If you looking for cheap & easy, I would say call around for a used 3.4l. Less expensive than new or reman. Easier than swapping in s different motor. Unless you want to swap in something different, but that is a different question.

Re: 1994 firebird oh man

First thing I would do is pressure test the cooling system, you can get one for around $75 at almost any auto parts store, or borrow one. Once you see where the antifreeze is pouring out its easier to find the problem. I assume you replaced the water pump & put a good thermostat in it? (don't put a cheap one in, get one from a dealer or a good napa one). Figure out whats wrong before you spend more then you have to, thats the best advise I can give. Could it be an intake gasket? They are known for going out on that motor, but I think most of the time they leak down the transmission, but its possible to leak into the oil if a gasket got moved while setting the intake on. If you find that a head gasket went out, have the head checked for cracks, flatness, and check the block for flatness. good luck and I hope its a cheap fix!

Re: 1994 firebird oh man

milky oil is a good sign of a cracked head or a blown head gasket. coolant in the oil is very bad. i would google used engine for your car. it should bring up different sites and a few should be an application. you fill out what you want milage, warranty, ect. then they send it to different junkyards. if they have one they will email you and tell you what they have and for what price. it saved me more than once with my jetta.
