Well here we go with another problem I just replaced hinge pins and bushings on my driver door. The door had been sagging pretty bad. The problem is that now I have discovered something else. The door catch (the part attached to the body) is bent in toward the body so that the door has to travel farhter in order to latch. I have a feeling this was caused by my daughter repeatedly trying to slam the door when the door catch hook was in a closed position. I looked carefully at the catch and can clearly see that the metal behind the catch is cracked (torn or whatever). I can pry the catch back out but it just keeps bending back in because of this weak metal. What in the heck do you think it will take to fix this?! I'm going to take it to a local body shop for an estimate but I really wouldn't think that the B pillar would be that weak or is this just flimsy sheet metal this catch is attached to?

Not much metal in there.
Unless you have the equipment like a mig welder to built it back up or put in another doolr piller it is best to let the body shop repair it for you.
