I bought a running 1994 GMC JIMMY S15

I rolled my truck and picked this one up for some replacement parts.

Basically i wanted to know if there were any upgrades that were made to the engine, suspension, drive line, or fuel delivery system that I should consider taking to up grade my truck.

Also under the center console I found the black box with a 8 wire connector that measures 4-1/2" x 3" x 1-1/4" . What is this used for, i don't have one on my truck.

Any bits of information will prove helpful and thanks for your time and knowledge.

PS. Is it true that if a truck has posi traction in the rear end that you can jack both rear tires of that ground and spin one that the other will spin in the same direction. I can not find any RPO codes relating to this.

I know of no changes to the 1994 engine, suspension, drive line, or fuel delivery system except the transmission shifts electronically and the computer is a mix of OBDI & OBDII and not an easy mix at that if the Check Engine light comes on...the free scan at the local auto parts store won't work.
I'm not sure if the '94 engine got a Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) at the front of the motor just behind the crank pulley or not. Any wires coming out of the motor just behind crankshaft pulley means a CKP is there so you'd couldn't use the '92 motor in the '94. I don't know about the knock sensors either.

Under the console is the remote door lock/unlock module.

You are correct with the pos rear description.

When you said "MIX", did you mean FIX?

Also, my transmission is a 4L60 and the one out of the 1994 is a 4L60-E, right. Now can I put the electronic transmission in my 1992?

Did you roll the '94?
Well, the mix is not easy to fix.
Your '92 computer won't tell the electronic trans when to shift.
If you put the '92 trans in the '94, the '94 computer will likely display a Check Engine light becauses it is missing the transmission wiring connections.
Your local trans shop might make you a swinging deal if you trade the '94 trans in on getting the '92 freshened up if you bring in the transmissions...maybe visa-versa too.

I rolled My 92 and bought the 94 for parts. Just last month I installed a re-manufactured transmission in my 92. The 94 transmission was rebuilt 2 years ago and I thought it might be worth storing encase future tranny problems arise. But as you mentioned it has no TV cable like in my 92. I was hopping that it may be an easy fix, if I ever need, to put the 94 trans. in the 92.

The '94 trans is barter stash for getting the '92 rebuilt or transfer case repair..

But as I mentioned I just put a reman. in my 92, so I'm hopping that it will last the life of my truck.

Barter stash! Things don't work like that here. They would give me a weird look and send me on my way if I even hinted that...

Take it to your trans shop for good faith credit onna future job, get a reciept....that'll 'bout guarantee your '92 trans will last 20 years the other side of social security.

Chris, my friend, you know how to put a grin on my face. What you're talking, sounds like what someone would do in the 60's & 70's... It's year 2008 bro! If my tranny shop wanted an old 4L60e they would go to the scrap yard or dump and get one for cheap, or free... Let alone getting credits. If I don't have a use for it the only way i could make a dollar is smash it up and recycle the aluminum, other wise I'll be paying someone to dispose of it.
