Vibration Issues Info - Diagnosis and Fix
We have a '94 Astro van purchased last fall with 68K miles on it. From the very beginning, it would suddenly start vibrating at highway speeds then stop vibrating and then start again for no apparent reason. We had U-Joints replaced, alignments done, new shocks to no avail. Then, we took it to Aamco in Danbury, CT. LOVE THESE GUYS!!! They started scratching their heads and it seemed to us that they really enjoyed the challenge of figuring out the problem and cared about correcting it. They took out the drive shaft and had it balanced. That wasn't the problem though. They serviced the engine. That wasn't it. Finally, they talked to several GMC techs and low and behold, it was the rear wheel wells. One would not immediately suspect the rear wheels to cause front end vibration, but that was the answer.
If anyone else encounters this problem, please save yourself time and money and replace rear wheel wells first.
