Speakers in 95 Ranger single cab

My buddy has a '95 Ranger with stock speaker and after market stereo. Somehow his factory speakers have survived this long and now he's trying to replace them. everything we've found says they're 6x8. since there's mor variety in other sizes he was wondering if there's a way to put different sizes in there, like 5.25" or 5x7. He found a site where some guy converted a 5.25" to fit with an adapter, not sure if he made it or bought it. there were no instructions on how he did it so i'm coming to AF.

any help is appreciated.

thanks,

Re: Speakers in 95 Ranger single cab

you should direct these questions to the audio group but why take out 6x8's and put something in smaller? The 6x8's will sound way better than any 5x7 or round speaker for that matter. The best advice I can give you is stay with the 6x8's and get a decent set (pioneer, sony, etc.) that has the same or more wattage that the deck has (example: if the deck is a 52x4 that equals 208 watts, do not buy 150 watt speakers buy 200 or 250's. If you buy the 150 speakers when the bass hits it will sound like $hit. Both Pioneer and Sony make very good speakers for under 100 dollars a set "MADE JUST FOR FORD". The box will tell you if it is for a ford. Higher the wattage of the speakers the better it will sound when he turns it up.

Talking Re: Speakers in 95 Ranger single cab

Ive had 3 rangers and ive been hooking up sound systems for years, and nothing sounds better than a 6X8 or a 6X9, if you have the space go with them, dont downsize, the ladies are right bigger is better, when it comes to sound of course.
