Plug wires

I am in the process of changing the plug wires on a '97 Cav 2.2. Before removing, I drew a diagram of which wire went to which cylinder. Afterwards, I looked at my Chiltons manual. It did not match my diagram. The local Chevy dealer said that the numbers on the coils should match the appropriate cylinders. That does not jive with the Chiltons. Chiltons says 2 & 3 coil terminals go to 2 & 3 cylinders. Coil terminal 1 goes to 4 cylinder and coil terminal 4 goes to cylinder 1.
Could anyone kindly tell me which is correct?
My diagram doesn't match either, so I will ditch it.
Thanks,

Re: Plug wires

Standing in front of your motor the cylinders are

1-2-3-4

Coil pacs will fire 1-4 and 2-3.

Listen to the GM mechanic, they will match. I just looked at my haynes manual and they have the location of the coil pacs wrong for one. They have them reversed. Cylinders 2-3 should be located beneath the 2 wire pig tal and the 6 wire pig tail, below that should be cylinders 1-4.

But i'll tell ya a little something. As long as both plug wires from 2-3 and are coil pac 2-3, the same for 1-4 everything will work fine.

standing in front of the coil pacs reading from left to right the order is

1-4-2-3 if you want them on the appropriate cylinders.
