GTO cam swap

Don't hate for being in the wrong forum. It is an LS1

The story first. Everything went very smooth up until the valve springs. The parts store valve spring compressor will NOT compress the two springs. The inner spring pops out of the bottom. Patriot says that cannot happen, I tell you it can. We spent 8 hours and got 4 valve springs installed. F' that. I ordred a tool from Crane Cams and it should be in tomorrow!

Hopefully a start up video will follow shortly after!

The lighting isn't the best in the garage for a photo shoot. Sorry.

Re: GTO cam swap

Thanks.

The problem with the spring compressor we have is the hooks on it that lock onto the spring aren't long enough to hold the inner spring while it compresses. I'll be glad when it's all back together.

Same issue we had. we ghettofied it a little bit and used vice grips on the sides of the compressor.

We bent the arms on the side to turn in a little more and got all but the one in the very back installed on the driver side. The brake booster blocks being able to compress it enough. 7/16 complete! Hopefully the Crane tool will arrive tomorrow. I paid $24 extra to get it overnighted.

Re: GTO cam swap

perhaps a big washer laid on top of the spring could have solved the problem???? havent used a spring compressor in a long time, and havent delt with dual springs, so just throwin out a random thought.
