'98 Bravada Maybe Starter?

Hello, and Thanks in Advance.
Yesterday I went for a long drive and on re-starting the car it started making a rubbing noise, like a belt was rubbing. I shut it off and it was as if the starter had never stopped starting and was winding down. I started it again and the same noise. I drove home because I was a ways away and needed to get back after about ten minutes of driving the noise stopped, my gauge lights flicked on for a second and the rest of the drive everything was fine. Now today when I tried starting the car, the gauge lights go on when I turn the ignition but the started does nothing. Doesn't even try. Is there something I can do, to find out the problem. I checked the fuses just to make sure it wasn't something simple. But, now I'm stuck. Not even sure where the starter is. Need Help.
Thanks,
Joe

It really sounds like your starter is cooked. Like Inafoog mentioned. Test your starter for voltage. If voltage is there and starter still doesn’t work. You’ll need to replace it. Keep us posted.
