C SAINZ +20.7 3. F DUVAL +29.5 4. T MÄKINEN +31.4 5. G PANIZZI +37.9 6. R BURNS +56.5 7. C MCRAE +1:03.3 8. A SCHWARZ +1:07.1 9. F LOIX +1:13.6 10. T GARDEMEISTER +1:20.9 * Loeb got lost between stage 3 and 4 - where the refuelling was planned - and as a consequence, het ran out of fuel... go figure!! * Martin driving top times after SS4 but is in 13th due to early gear-box problems * Solberg out on SS4 with broken suspention * Gronholm dropped back to 12th after power steering failure freakray 02-28-2003, 10:21 AM Wow, that is an interesting result for day one, nobody is really doing what anyone expected......except Loeb:p Thanks for the update Guido....haven't been able to be on the PC until now. Ray ales 02-28-2003, 10:30 AM So my post in another thread is not good enough for you? j/k bigfrit 02-28-2003, 11:11 AM  How the hell a rally driver gets lost ? Haven't they got gps systems in their cars? and very detailed notes and roads are marked and they could ask for the road? Something smells fishy here , can't wait to find out more about it! Ciao Olivier:) ales 02-28-2003, 01:17 PM I think it's just French drivers :p:p:p:silly::silly2: Guido 02-28-2003, 02:03 PM Originally posted by ales So my post in another thread is not good enough for you? j/k Sir, highly regarded Moderator, Sir, I'm sorry to say but you were http://forum.depaddock.net/images/smilies/offtopic.gif there. :p :p I didn't see it - didn't reckon it was gonna be in the "predictions poll". So there you go. Sorry. Anyway, it's been a wild day there in Turkey and what happended to Loeb, :bloated:  , I still don't understand. But El Matador is running second, so that's good. k_dog 03-01-2003, 10:42 PM C. Sainz...winning......looks as if most of us we're wrong freakray 03-01-2003, 10:57 PM Regardless of who thought what, I think it would almost be fitting, and perfect, if Sainz got the win, especially ahead of that scottish team mate of his. I will also be happy if Burns can hold station and take second for Pug, although I am sure he will be attacking in the morning..... ales 03-02-2003, 12:31 AM Burns will be nursing that car like a baby! I wouldn't want to see Provera angry - I've seen him happy! :) Can't help but feel for Harri. What does he have to do? :( Markko seems to be having a good comeback. If only .... Alex RallyRaider 03-02-2003, 02:38 AM Seems like the teams should have saved last years Safari cars for the Rally of Turkey. It is proving to be just as big a car breaker as Kenya used to be. Absolutely gutted for Harri, for a moment there it looked like he was going to recieve just compensation for efforts. Now we've got to hope nothing happens to Carlos, otherwise Burnsie could win it  Wonder if Carlos, having regained/equalled the crown for most rally victories, will grandstand and challenge Schumacher to a duel like Colin did last year? :silly2: Guido 03-02-2003, 04:24 AM I did a quick calcul. and IF things stay the way they are - with 2 stages left - Burnsie will take the lead in the Championship with 18 points, followed by McRae and Sainz with both 16 points. Let's see how the last 2 stages are going to be... And who was saying Citroën was going to be nowhere on gravel?? :flipa: fwdfreak 03-02-2003, 05:43 AM I´m so mad that mäkinen had that problem, his my second favorite driver :( but markko is climbin up da ladder RallyRaider 03-02-2003, 05:50 AM Originally posted by huudo And who was saying Citroën was going to be nowhere on gravel?? :flipa: By all reports those stages aren't filled with gravel - rather razor sharp boulders! This rally isn't about speed, it's survival. If Marcus and Harri or Petter and Tommi had had a clear run the story would be different. However so much for what could have been, this Peugeot supporter is with you now Guido, hoping Sainz in the Citroen can hold off Mr Burns. ales 03-02-2003, 05:55 AM Last stage is under way, and the old fox is leading by more than a minute ... Markko has been in the top 3 during most of the stages today - that boy is fast! ales 03-02-2003, 06:32 AM Final order: Sainz (old fox!!! :D) Burns Duval Mcrae Panizzi (good job!) Martin :D Gardemeister Makinen Guido 03-02-2003, 07:13 AM Originally posted by RallyRaider By all reports those stages aren't filled with gravel - rather razor sharp boulders! I should rephrase that  Who said Citroën was only going to be strong on tarmac? :D Guido 03-02-2003, 07:15 AM Originally posted by ales Final order: Sainz (old fox!!! :D) Burns Duval Mcrae Panizzi (good job!) Martin :D Gardemeister Makinen hela, hola! It's King Carlos or El Matador for you, Sir :finger: j/k And what about Duval!! Young gun from Belgium taking 3rd and winning a SS  Yoehoee, Citroën's winning 2 out of 3!! not bad at all! :jump: Vagabond_se7en 03-02-2003, 07:19 AM Great job by Duvall, especially when there were doubts on how the co-driver change to Stephane Prevot would turn out with so little time to get "used" to each other. ales 03-02-2003, 10:33 AM Originally posted by huudo hela, hola! It's King Carlos or El Matador for you, Sir :finger: j/k Hey! I like him probably more than him. I was heartbroken when he had to retire several hundred of metres before the championship! He's still an old fox, though! :D:D:D:D bigfrit 03-02-2003, 11:21 AM :) Nice to see some competition this year! three different brands of cars in the top-three! Aah, this is what WRC is all about! but it remains a fact that the french are investing a lot more the the rest of the teams... does anyone actually has credible figures on this subject??? Ciao Olivier Marco_Wrc 03-02-2003, 05:38 PM Man, what an exciting event this was. And did you see the smile on Carlos' face. El Matador is back :ylsuper not bad... for an old man First time for the rally of Turkey, and I hope the last time. Maybe we see the rally of Kenia back on the menu next year. Diegoq 03-02-2003, 05:42 PM Carlos El Matador Sainz is back :D this year will promise a lot a fight within the PSA Group cars PUG VS CITROEN. But still we have to see what happen to the new Focus in New Zeland Cheers RallyRaider 03-03-2003, 02:43 PM Originally posted by ales Sainz (old fox!!! :D) Hey Alex, Juha Kankkunen is the "Old Fox". As others have said Carlos is "El Matador". Marcus Gronholm is known as "Bosse", Harri Rovanpera is "Rovis", Petter Solberg is "Hollywood" and of course Burns is the "Ginger Whinger"! Any other nicknames for drivers out there? Marco_Wrc 03-03-2003, 03:06 PM Originally posted by RallyRaider Hey Alex, Juha Kankkunen is the "Old Fox". As others have said Carlos is "El Matador". Then again, I have heard nearly everydriver of Finnish origin referred to as 'the flying Fin' at some time or another. Ray Guido 03-07-2003, 01:40 PM In RallysXS Freddy Loix was also referred to as King Crash Freddy, but officially it's "Fast Freddy" Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
