car build

i have a 92 camaro with an lt1 in it. i have made a plan for some things to put on the car, but i wanted to check with yal about if it would work the way i think it would.

the lt1 is stock for right now, but im building it from the back first so it can handle the horsepower.

i want to get a 700r4 street/strip transmission from probuilt automatics.

i have a 10 bolt rear end so i plan on getting the thunder racing complete gear package for gm 7.5" 3.73 gears.

the way i figure it that gives the trans and rearend 500+ hp to build up to.

is there anything im missing or any other trans or gears yal would get?or anything im missing?

Re: car build

if youre looking for a 500+hp 700R4, ask them to build it with 4L65E components, like the five pinion planetary gearsets. it adds to the cost but is well worth it in strength. also look into hardened input shafts and shell casings.

the 10bolt is not very strong, id probly only trust it to about 400-450hp, beyond that, id try to find a 9 bolt rear end, they can still be had for a song, and they have been known to survive well behind moderately built big blocks.

Re: car build

Ditch the 10-bolt for sure. They aren't very reliable. I would look into a 12-bolt from Strange or Moser. You can get them completely assembled to your door with your specifications. All you will need to do it bolt it up, break it in, and go. Or you could go with a 9-inch like stated above, but they don't come pre-assembled.

Re: car build

12 bolts are a great choice, but expensive, ford 9 inch rears are also very strong, but less of a bolt in,

however, to clarify, i was talking about the auzzy rear end, the Borg Warner 9 BOLT rear, not the 9 inch ford. they came in IROC's and TA's from about 86-89. they use a 7.75in ring gear, and closer spacing on the carrier bearings that make a much stronger rear end.
