'00 Cirrus Falling out of gear

I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus. When it is cold in the morning, I let my car warm-up for about 10 minutes; however, when I back out of my garage down the driveway, the car seems to fall out of gear and just sit there. If I rev up the RPM's a little, the car kicks back into gear and goes again. The car isn't out of transmission fluid. It is only leaking a little bit. What is the cause of this? It doesn' do it all the time, though.

Re: '00 Cirrus Falling out of gear

It sounds like the transmission is going into fail safe mode. You may need to get the transmission computer checked out. At times the engine may seem to be stuck in second gear or neutral. If you turn off the car and turn it back on, it should reset it. It will only get worse. At times, a little trash could be in the transmission. It may be getting stuck and the computer will make it go into fail safe as well. Once the trash flows free, it will fix itself until it gets stuck again. Worst case, new computer for the transmission.
