i need help my 97 cav is running bad

here what is going on i just replaced the coil pack new wire new plugs and a new cat this was 4 weeks ago now i was driveing home and the started to miss fire i though the coiles went bad so i replace them it still didnot work so i try to drive home 5 miles away i know not to smart the wife is behind me calles on the phone said the car is on fire i pull over the new cat is glowing red now i think it a cat prolbem drive to the cat shop in the morring they tell me its fule going down the pipe so now im mad the it to the auto shop they tell me its the fule pressure sensor pay them ther 45 dollars go on my way now to get the sensor in i took off the a/c line there is anitfreeze in the line now i get the sensor in it still is miss fireing the engen is rocking and rolling i dont know what is wrong any more i still get the same codesthey are ramdon miss fire and o2 sensor by the cat i love my cav it a 97 with a 2.4 i have had this car for new i want to fix her i just hope its not to bad thank you for any help you can give me

It is probably running rich, this will cause the cat to get really hot and the engine to run crappy. Things to check are the oxygen sensors, the MAP sensor, and the vacuum line to the MAP sensor, because these things could all cause the engine to run rich and overheat the cat. I'd think that if the cat got that hot it's probably toast, but make sure to fix other problems or it'll kill the cat again. Oh yeah, did you replace the air filter?

vaccum line to map and also check evap canister line as I have see this problem before same exact thing evap is athe coolant resovoir to thr front of vehicle right finder the hose runs down near the a/c and under the alt.

check your airfilter for blockage, mouse nest or just plain dirty. if oxygen sensor is bad car will flood dumping fuel thru motor and catylitic will heat up. also if the engine coolant temp sensor is bad it will do the same thing, also map sensor but that usually does not go bad. toivo
