96 cavalier-no start/theft light still on?

hi ive done the reset from sticking the wrong key in the ignition and the theft light is still on and car is not starting. i left battery unhooked for at least a week, and reset again. the light went out but did not start still. cut off then turned to run position and the light went out, tried to start,no good. cut off and back to run and the light was back on. im stumped something is really wrong. btw the key i accidentally stuck in there was an all silver key without the plastic head that will open the doors. also now the igniton cylinder doesnt lock anymore. any help on testing or figuring out what is wrong will be apreciated. i would really like to bypass the security if someone can tell me exactly how to do it.
