99' rodeo 124k mi

2 wheel, drive v6 only gets about 20-22 mpg
everything is stock with regular road tires.
anything i can do to maybe squeeze more mpg?

Lucky you. The best I've ever gotten was 21mpg which was all highway. I normally get 17-19 in summer and 13-14 in winter with the colder temps and winter blend gas.

Most common way to get a bit more mileage is to keep tire pressure a bit higher then the manual says. Mine says 29 psi front and rear, I keep them around 35 psi.

a tune up and air in the tires.

20-22 is about all you will get.

Only 20-22, eh? I get about 18 and a little better highway. I changed my precat O2 sensors when I went down to 15. I'd say leave yours alone, though. Increase tire pressure and change your plugs if they are due. I think of the Rodeo and my Jeep in the same way - mileage is a sacrifice for the other benefits of each vehicle.

Sheesh, I only WISH I could get that right now.

That mileage is about the best you're gonna get in these truck. Have to remember, even though yours is a 4x2, they're still heavy trucks and shaped like bricks in the wind.

Crap, we're getting roughly 15-16mpg on the winter blend, I can average 18-19mpg city in the summer, and 20-22mpg on the highway, but there's no way I would ever get 22mpg in the city.

The Rodeo's only getting drove once a week now, however, due to having a company truck again...so that helps, and keeps the mileage down.

Rock on, this is something I was looking for, for quite sometime! I got tired of hearing various options and no being able to back it up with some results. :biggrin:

Not sure how hard you guys drive, but highway, i get a consistent 25mpg or better. Took a week vacation last week, and got over 30mpg on 3 250+ mile trips. Mines base model v6 5 speed 4x4 98 model. As soon as i push it faster than 70, you can watch the gas guage go down. In stop start driving, high teens is as good as it gets.

I'm really going to watch my speed on this coming vacation. I expect to drive my Jeep 3K in a couple of weeks. I'll try to stick to 65-70mph and see what kind of mileage I get. It tops out at about 18mpg.

My last two tanks of gas have averaged just over 25mpg. 1/3 city driving, 2/3 hwy.

i admit, though, that i drive it easy to maximize the mpg
