Question Coolant sensor???

Im haveing problems with a hard start and i was told by a few mechanics to try the coolant sensor i have a 95 silverado sb350 I do believe i have found the sensor new the thermostat housing ..My question is how easy is it to replace. If its as easy changing a light bulb then i can do it ..I have looked in my Haynes repair manual but it says nothing on how to ..What do i need to do and hope its a simple process ..cant see paying a mechanic 65.00 an hour to unscrewe and rescrew it in...Thanks ...

Re: Coolant sensor???

It's almost as easy as changing a light bulb, but you will have to refill the cooling system afterwards. It just unscrews and the new one screws in. Most even come with thread sealer on them already.

So I go to this get-together at a friends house, not remembering it's a few days before Halloween. I see a bunch of dirty looking strangers. Then I see a guy that was clearly wearing a Halloween costume and I make the connection, and say "Oh yeah, Halloween... y'all goin' as a group of bums?". Turns out they weren't wearing costumes.

in addition to the other reply use caution when removing the sensor that you don't spill coolant on ac compressor belts, idler, and compressor clutch assembly.... have hose ready to wash off coolant if you spill.....also torque to about 15ft lbs not too tight.....you should use thread sealant on sensor threads..... if you have meter you could check this old one before replacing and wasting time/money....don't have to remove from vehicle as well...
