Angry contour svt knocking

My 98.5 contour svt is knocking above 3000 rpm , it just started recently and I'm trying to find out what it is before spending a lot of money by taking it to a shop, maybe rods? lifters?

could be a spun main or rod bearing. might be time for a 3.0L upgrade.

Re: contour svt knocking

dont do a 3.0 conversion it is pointless! just take off the oil pan and check the bearings. most likly it is a bearing they tend to get louder at certain rpm's

yeah, i mean who would want .5L more of displacement and 40+ hp and 40+ ft-lbs of tq over a stock svt 2.5L.

and btw, its the rod bearings that normally go so taking off the oil pan isnt going to be of any help.
