Fuel composition sensor p-0178, p-0179

If you are getting code p-0178 and p-0179. I strongly recommend you contact the GM motor corp at 1-800-222-1020 and voice your complant. The only way they will have a recall for this bogas problem is for everyone call. I have seen several blogs with this problem happening at about 50,000 to 60,000 miles. The part cost $600 to $650 plus labor. The more people to call the better. . Its only a dealer repair. So they got us by the nads.

as much as i hate to say it, this problem really took care of itself.

What year and engine and transmission and mileage now?

Good to always complain.
And the 800 no should help you in dealing with the problem.
What did they say when you called?
If it is a known problem a TSB or recall will be put out on it.
RECALL THEY PAY.
A Tsb IS YOU PAY.
Did you run/check your vin for any recalls or tsb's on the problem?
Codes do not say replace the part.
Many things can give you them codes.

If the VCM is bad it is covered under the 80K 7-8 year emission warranty.
Should be tested first.

It is not a dealer only repair.
Most good regular repair shops have the equipment and know how to deal with the codes.
