2004 center console shift lights are out

It has been a long time since i have posted but.....

I have a 2004 Grand prix, a few weeks ago i was getting in to my car at night and noticed the little gear lights on the center councle were out. I first i thought maybe they never light up befor, but since it was so different sitting in the car at night i knew something was up. I tried shifting throught all the gears and still nothing so i thought i would just have to live with out them. Then a day or so later they were back on. I was glad i wasnt hallucinating and that they realy did light up...... later on that night they were out again. Has any one had the same issue if so how did you fix. Does any one know what fuse i would check or if it is as simple as a burnt bulb.

my first guess would be to check the connection underneath the actualy gear shifter. maybe its loose and everytime you hit a bump etc. the lights turn off and on...

Lightbulb Re: 2004 center council shift lights are out.

So I finally got around to taking out the center counsel and found that the bulb was burnt out!!! However I don’t know what kind of bulb it is nor do I know how to replace it. There are 3 wires that go into the back of the plastic housing that the bulb sits in. I was not able to disconnect the wires or remover the bulb from the plastic. Any ideas on how to replace the bulb?

I took some pic's will my cell phone but im not able to post pic. let me know if anyone can post them for me if i email them to you.

Re: 2004 center console shift lights are out

So i went down to the local NAPA and was told that there was not part listed and that it might me a part the dealer would have to order. He also mentioned that it might be something at is hard wired in and that it might not be as simple as just taking the bulb out and replacing. any thoughts ?

I've got the same problem, did you ever find out where/how you can replace the bulb?
