Actually, these cars have an access door in the trunk which makes changing the fuel pump easier than most cars. You have to be careful that you have plenty of ventillation for the fuel vapors (you don't want to blow yourself up). The hardest part is getting the module seated back in the hole when reinstalling it.

The fuel level sending unit can be replaced without replacing the whole fuel pump pod. Less than $100 providing labor is DIY. Available from an AC Delco parts supplier as a kit.
