electrical problems

I have a 2000 Prism that is having issues. With the engine OFF, the fans and lights
came on by themselves. I disconnected the battery for a while, then drove it on an errand.
It's been shut off a couple times now and the problem seems to have gone. NOW,
instead the dome light stays on. I diconnected the battery and walked away for now.
Been trying to research but am not getting anwhere fast. Any ideas what is happening and how to fix these problems.

Re: electrical problems

Did you ever find the solution to your problem? Mind sharing?

This is my issue, if someone could shed some light on:

I recently started experiencing electrical problems with my Chevy Prizm (2001). Basically, one morning, I attempted to start it up, and then let it run for a couple of minutes. When I lowered the parking brake, that prompted the daylight lights to come on, immediately killing the RPM and shutting the car off. I took it to a mechanic, who obviously didn't know what he was doing. He managed to fix this issue by replacing a module (didn't tell me what he replaced). Then something strange; the headlight switch got toggled. If I turned the headlights on, they would turn off, and vice versa, though the RPM and shutoff issue seemed to go away. A few days later, same exact thing happened. Though this time, since I was able to turn the daylight lights off by switching the main headlight switch to ON position (not sure if to scold the mechanic or thank him), I was able to maintain the car running. But as soon as I would turn the lights on (by turning the light switch to off - LOL), the car would lose RPM and shut down. As it stands, I can't drive this vehicle at night, and is sitting at another mechanic's shop (this time, I chose a mechanic with recommendations). He tells me that he can't find the issue, and has referred me to another electrical guy who works for a local dealership. One more thing; the first time this happened, I smelled burning wire in the cabin. Anyone seen this or have ideas on how to find and fix this issue? Thanks very much!! Faisal sendmail0@gmail.com
