Ball Park mileage '99 Tahoe

Looking at a '99 Tahoe 4WD, and just wondering what I could expect in mileage, ballpark? I know it's a 350, and I'm not really concerned about it, you don't buy a Tahoe if you care about gas mileage, but I just wanted to see what kind of mileage other Tahoe owners get on average.

This thing's got a brand new factory 350 in it, with only like 5K on it. It's got about 130K on the rest of the drivetrain.

Any thoughts? How strong are the tranny's in these things? Do they have the Turbo R4?

should have a 4l60E, basically a 700r4, modernized for electronics. if it has been correctly serviced, then it could last a long time. but if it is a good deal, might be worth dropping in a new tranny once that one goes out if you have the extra $$$. mileage could be anywhere from 13-18 average, heard of some lower, a couple higher. never had a tahoe, but these numbers come from owners i have talked to from time to time.

Re: Ball Park mileage '99 Tahoe

Thanks 16th Hippy, 700 R4 is what I meant, not sure why I wrote Turbo, must have been in my head from talking about a different tranny.

The guy has it listed for 5K, but with the amount of time it's been sitting there, the price of gas right now and the amount of original mileage on it, I would guess I could get it for 4K or maybe a little lower, he wil start to get desperate soon.

When I talked about it with him he kept talking about the amount of money he put into it, not sure why, it's not my problem how much he put into it, it's not an investment where your gonna get a return on your money, plus I don't trust anybody when it comes to buying cars, he's only selling his old problems.

I have an old Cherokee right now with the 4.0 in it and it's getting about 16-18, so a new, good running 350 sounds like it will give me the same.

Thanks.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/

Supposedly they changed gas mileage estimates to reflect something close to what you could expect.
