Engine Light on 1.2 16V expression

Have the chance to buy a 2001 Y, 1.2 16v Expression cheap, no service history, but the engine management light is on all the time on the panel, have drove it for 30 miles, drives very well, smooth, no probs, suspect the light maybe a service item, get the feeling it has not been serviced recently, being new to Clio’s is there anything simple I can check? Or are there any known faults for this year and model that may cause the light?

Re: Engine Light on 1.2 16V expression

which engine light ? the one in the middle of the dash looks like a engine with the word stop is for temp the one on the far right and at the bottem looks like a engine but without words is a toxic fume warning light. the first is just poss your temp sensor is faulty (senser not sender) and the latter is normaly the coil or coils on the clio, both are common faults unless you like this car and/or have already bought it then dont. clios are bad for engine elec problems.
