Titling a car

In Pennsylvania, how long does it have to be before you can consider a vehicle "abandoned" and claim a new title for it?

I have a '85 CRX 1500 that has no title, and I've been wanting to throw this D16A1 engine into it w/ some mods for weekend racing... but I don't have a title for it, and can't get one unless I track down the last titled owner in GA..

I was thinking about just getting another (junk) one and swapping the vins, since there are only two main ones, and the car will most likely never have to go through a DOT inspection anyway.. but I'd rather do it legally if I can..

Other than that, if I can sell it, I will, so anyone in PA or Southern Tier NY that wants it, it runs right now, most of hte chassis is either new/refurbished parts, and there is almost no rust on the body, other than the normal areas.

$500 and it's yours.. you tow it... D16A1 is complete less dizzy and CPS, which can be gotten easily... $200 for that is as low as I go.

You're looking at a complete weekend racer for $700.. plus towing charges.. can't really beat that.

Re: Titling a car

Nope, sold the one that I did the suspension on.. this one still has the stock suspension, not sure what I'm going to do w/ it, but will know more after I get around to calling the title place..

Once I get a title, it won't be a "Honda" anymore, it will be a kit car, so it won't have to pass emissions, as in having all the crap, but it will have to be tuned to meet reg's for whatever year it's titled in. (not exactly hard)

Probably won't do the swap again on this one, since 1, I don't have the parts laying around, and 2, it wasn't enough of an improvment to bother with.

Added benefits were basically: You have rear coilovers now.

You can basically bolt the fronts in, iirc. This won't help much, b/c you'd have to remove the torsion bars to get any effect from the coilovers, and that wouldn't probably be a good idea.

Re: Titling a car

That and the front end of these cars aren't built to withstand the pressure of a coilover strut. And coilovers on the rear you can already get without having to swap over to IRS.

Re: Titling a car

yeah, I just did the swap b/c I wanted IRS tho.. I don't like the idea of one side of my suspension fighting the other side.. doesn't work for me.
