New to the HHR clan

I've been a member of this site for a while now with my Lincoln Mark VIII's(hence the user name)

But last night I bought a used 2006 HHR 2LT.

it's dark gray and LOADED with all the factory add-ons.
2.4L
roof rack
running boards
fog lights
chrome dress(handles, grill, mirror)
6-disk changer w/ XM
sunroof
17" wheels
stiffer suspension.

I gotta say, I almost bought a Copper '07 LS from a dealer 1 mile down the road from where I bought this one...but it was rough...so I made my way up the street and found my gray one for less $$ with better features.

needless to say, waiting until 5:00pm on New Year's Eve really paid off. Got a screamin deal, and drove home very happy.

I drive 130 miles a day round-trip, so we'll see how up to the task this fun little cross-over is. So far...I am very happy. except i am a smoker...and there is no ash tray! The factory 'ash tray' is a small little cup with a lid that fits in the cup holders...that aint gonna fly...so for now...no smoking in my new HHR...I guess that's a good thing right?

I'll get some pictures up later tonight..I got home at 7:30pm on new year's eve, and am work already at 5:45am new year's day.

happy New Year folks.

Re: New to the HHR clan

I bought an ashtray that fits into the cup holder for my brother and his PT Cruiser. He then got an ashtray package for his PT and all it is, is an ashtray that fits into a cup holder.

GM has an ashtray option which I think is the same type deal. The cup I bought was about $5, the package was $185.

I don't smoke and don't allow smokers to smoke in my cars. (my mother dropped a hot ash into a car seat and burnt a hole) Never again.

They'll sell a lot more once gas gets higher.

I got 32.4 mpg on my inaugural road trip.

Re: New to the HHR clan

I also just purchased a HHR 07 LT loaded so far I love it. Seems to be pretty well put together. I have a question about the window switches though. Do they or are supposed to be lit at night?

No, the window switchs are not backlighted. They are slightly illuminated by the overhead light though.

Re: New to the HHR clan

Although my HHR has the 2.4, my auto runs in the same rpm range as yours. Maybe at 70 it gets to 2500 or so rpm. Its hard to know the accuracy of the tach. I get good gas milage and thats why I like the HHR.

Re: New to the HHR clan

I'm also new to the clan. I bought mine about a week ago. I couldn't be happier!!

It was between a 06 Cobalt base model with NO options. Black, 5 spd. 30K some miles for $11,500 with my 2000 Olds Intrigue (which was beat to hell and back) for trade in.

-OR-

A 06 HHR LT fully loaded (except sunroof) with all available options. Red/Chrome, 5 spd. barely under 15K miles for $9,500 with the Olds Intrigue.

I had to drive almost 2 hours away (glad I made it there in the Olds) but it was worth it!!!

The HHR was the obvious choice due to value. Wasn't too crazy about the look of the vehicle, but that quickly grew on me. Can't wait to "pimp" it out after the winter months.

Now I just have to learn how to drive a 5 spd. lol
